Lube Stop and Carwash took first place in the Leisure League tournament on Aug. 8, defeating the Wanna Bees 16-1 in the final game.
Earlier in the day, the Wanna Bees soaked Wellington Fire Department 12-6 and then nipped the Swingin’ Mallards 17-16 to earn second place. That put the Swingin’ Mallards in third place and Wellington Fire in fourth place for the tournament.
Sponsored by Wellington Recreation, the adult co-ed softball league fielded nine teams this summer. During regular season play, Lube Stop had a 9-1 record for first place. The Swingin’ Mallards placed second with an 8-2 record. The Wanna Bees and Wellington Fire tied with four wins and six losses each.
The Recreation League will hold its tournament on Aug. 27 and 29. Games start on the 27th at 5 p.m. at Library Park North Field “A” and at 5:30 p.m. at Library Park South Field.
