The Winick family of Wellington (Colorado) and the town’s public works department have installed locally crafted signs to greet people at the Interstate 25 interchange on the east and along Highway 1 at the west.
Through the family business, Groff Ag, Nicole (Winick) Sterler designed the computer image based on the 2005 centennial logo. Allan Winick then crafted four large steel disks with a plasma cutter, and Judy Winick did the powder coating. The family donated the signs to Wellington (Colorado).
Public works employees designed the white cement pillars and figured out how to construct the signs. Freddie Kiefer and Jim Miller are credited with solving most of the challenges. Andy Langholf of the public works department provided the adjacent photo shortly after the successful installation.
The new signs were officially unveiled by the Wellington (Colorado) Town Board on June 23.
