The Wellington (Colorado) Town Board at its April 27 meeting will consider a request for $2,500 to fund the summer Got What It Takes Program.

The program provides short-term employment for youth to do community service projects, including work for the town, school district and senior citizens.

The Boys & Girls Club, which hosts the program, will provide $5,000. For the past two years, Larimer County was able to support the program with a grant, but that funding source is no longer available.

Town administrator Larry Lorentzen said he will have some suggestions on what budget options might be available if the board wants to assist the program. Toward the end of the year, the board will likely discuss an overall policy for funding nonprofit requests when it works on the 2011 budget, Lorentzen said.
