Welcome home!
Wellington (Colorado) residents turned out on April 11, 2010, to welcome back Capt. Shane Clarke on his return from a yearlong deployment with the Wyoming Army National Guard to Iraq and neighboring countries. Clarke’s brigade of 3,200 soldiers operated in eight countries transporting 70,000 troops over 5.5 million miles. Above, Loveland resident A.J. Erwine, a member of Project Hero Quilts, presents Clarke with a “Quilt of Love.” For more than a year, Wellington has honored deployed military personnel with send-off and welcome-home ceremonies.
